The President

Earlier this month (7/11), the United States of America just had her democracy party resulted in the re-elected President Barack Obama for the second time. Again, a black man is returning to the White House. The moment was started four years ago, the breaking of a racial barrier. It is indeed historical.

Obama is the 44th President of the USA since 18th to 21st century. The list of the Presidents of the USA are as follow:

18th Century

1. George Washington2. John Adams

19th Century

3. Thomas Jefferson15. James Buchanan

5. James Monroe17. Andrew Johnson

33. Harry S. Truman42. William J. Clinton
34. Dwight D. Eisenhower

21st Century

43. George W. Bush44. Barack Obama
As I quote from the official website of the White House, "His story is the American story — values from the heartland, a middle-class upbringing in a strong family, hard work and education as the means of getting ahead, and the conviction that a life so blessed should be lived in service to others."

I'm interested in the last sentence - "a life so blessed should be lived in service to others". A selfless statement. We can also see this value in the life of Abraham Lincoln (my favourite). He fought against slavery because he hates to see the poor creatures hunted down, caught, carried back to their stripes, and unrewarded. Selfless motives.

Let's get back to our country, Indonesia. We'll have our democracy party in 2014 by electing a new president. Can we have a president who has no personal agenda and motives?
Let's pray and be wise in whom we trust to lead this nation.
